Sunscreen: ideally prepared for sun bathing

Summer time is beach time – and the perfect opportunity to get a tanned complexion in no time at all. Nevertheless, before you enjoy your sunbathing ritual, you should ensure your skin has ample protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays. The former aren’t just responsible for your attractive summer skin tone; they can also cause premature skin aging. Exposing yourself unprotected to UVA rays too often will lead to unwanted wrinkles, lines and pigment spots. While UVB rays give you a lasting tan, they also lead to the formation of free radicals which, in turn, can cause a wide range of harmful effects. One of the consequences is the notorious sunburn but in the worst-case scenario, your DNA is attacked and the risk of melanoma and skin cancer increases. But don’t worry: the right sunscreen provides you with the ideal protection against UV rays.

Choose an appropriate SPF

When choosing your sunscreen, the first thing to look at is the SPF (sun protection factor). This gives you an idea of how long the sunblock will protect your skin against the impacts of UVB rays. The higher the SPF, the longer you can stay in the sun. Your skin type also plays a role here, as does its intrinsic protection time – the amount of time you can stay in the sun without applying any sun cream. People with fair complexions have a low intrinsic protection time and should use for a higher SPF. People with a darker complexion or skin that is already tanned can use a lower sun protection factor. Generally speaking, use an SPF of at least 20 in the summer. You should also ensure that your chosen sun protection is a broad-spectrum sunscreen. This protects against both kinds of harmful ultraviolet rays. Selective UV filters repel or reflect these rays instead of absorbing them. A nourishing moisturizer with SPF is important as it replenishes your skin with the moisture lost to the sun.

Protection against sunburn and premature skin aging

Our Cellular Sun Shield SPF 50 sun protection contains a balanced UVA/UVB protection as well as a DNA repair complex to protect your skin against sunburn and premature skin aging. It is also a great sunscreen for sensitive skin. The high SPF value of this formulation means that the protection provided is highly effective, even in extreme conditions such as in the mountains, the tropics and the sea. And remember: any sunscreen is only as good as the application, so take the time to apply your sun cream thoroughly and in sufficient quantity to your skin. The light texture of our tinted sunscreen ensures that it is quickly absorbed and feels pleasant on the skin. Reapply at regular intervals – in particular as soon as you come out of the water. Tip: while you naturally use a sunscreen for your face during the summer, you should also use a protective cream during the rest of the year, as your skin reacts to the sun’s rays even on cloudy days. Thanks to its light protection filter system, our Active Glow SPF 15 day cream offers your skin effective protection from the sun as well as an intensive moisturizing boost. At the same time, it gives your skin a light tint, offering you an attractive, glowing complexion.
